Talavera is a type of majolica ceramic that dates back to the 16th century. It's also known as majolica, which refers to a type of ceramic decoration on earthenware.

One of its main characteristics was that it was covered with a lead glaze opacified with tin. This glaze was then decorated with various oxide motifs over the previous base.

In Puebla, the production of this type of pottery became a true tradition. Furthermore, by combining it with the techniques of indigenous artisans, it distinguished itself from Spanish Talavera pottery.
